Golf

  1. What are the hours of the Golf Shoppe?
    Summer Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM
    Saturday, Sunday & Holidays 6:30 AM until 7:00 PM
    Winter Hours: Opening: Same Close at 6:00 PM
  2. When can I make Tee Times?
    Tee times can be made one week in advance. Saturday to Saturday, Sunday to Sunday, etc. when the golf shoppe opens. Weekend times are reserved over the phone (209) 477-0252 or in the golf shoppe beginning at 6:30 AM a week prior. Please call to cancel reservations if you are unable to keep a tee time.
  3. Do you have a Men's Club?
    All male Members are automatic members of the Men's Club. Once they have an established handicap index, they may participate in all Club Tournaments. Entry forms are in the Golf Shoppe and monthly newsletter. The Men's Club offers approximately one tournament per month including their multiple day events such as Director's Cup, President's Cup, Men's Invitational and the Men's Club Championship.
  4. Do you have a Ladies Club? When do they play? How do I join them?
    The Club has two ladies' groups. The Women's Club plays 18 holes on Tuesdays and the "Niners" play 9 holes on Thursdays. Each group charges an annual fee which includes handicap and special events.
  5. Is there a Junior Program? How do I enroll my child?
    The Junior Program runs from mid-March through mid-July usually meeting on Saturday afternoons. Available ages are from 9 through 17 and included are clinics, ability tests, competition and written tests. This program received a PGA award in 1988 for being the best in Northern California. Space limited to 130 junior golfers.
  6. Is there a dress code?
    Yes. Covered in the Rules & Regulations. Shorts hemmed with minimum 5" inseam. Collared shirts required. No tank tops allowed. Denim jeans are allowed on the golf course and in the club house from November 1 through March 31 due to wet course conditions. This applies to pants and shorts.
  7. Are there gender restrictions?
    No! The Club is available to all members on a day-to-day basis. Scheduled events by Elkhorn's special interest groups take precedence and open play scheduled around them.
  8. Does the professional golf staff offer lessons?
    Yes, Elkhorn has four PGA Professionals available for group and private golf lessons. Clinics are offered throughout the year. Check the monthly newsletter for dates and costs.
  9. What is a NCGA handicap? Do I need one?
    NCGA is the amateur body of golf in Northern California of which Elkhorn is a Club Member. All males should establish an index as soon as possible to be eligible for the Men's Club Tournaments. The fee is $35 the first year and $25 per year thereafter. Women and dependent children are also eligible to establish an index through the NCGA. The Staff will train you on the in-house handicap computer.
  10. Is there a Tournament schedule printed by the Club?
    Yes! The Club events are listed in the monthly calendar of events giving a brief description of the program. Also, the Men's Club calendar is printed each year in the January or February newsletter and a Pocket Tournament Schedule is available through the Golf Shoppe.
  11. What is Club Credit?
    Elkhorn issues a credit account (instead of gift certificates) to all members who win in tournaments or sweeps play at the Club. Members may use this credit for any Golf Shoppe or Food & Beverage purchase in the club except monthly dues and tournament entry fees.
  12. Is the Club closed on Mondays?
    No. Elkhorn is open 7 days a week, but the Club does allow outside tournaments to be played on Mondays only! The Golf Shoppe can give you available tee times for these days and you can check the schedule in the monthly newsletter.
  13. What is a Guest Pass Card?
    Each membership is allowed a guest pass card FREE that allows them to bring six guests to the Club within a calendar year paying only for a cart. The card is available through the Club office. Some restrictions apply.
  14. Can I bring a Guest to golf with me? How much does it cost?
    Yes! Fees are $30 weekdays, $50 weekends and holidays. After 12:00 noon, any day of the week, fees are reduced to $25. There are no restrictions on the number of times a guest may play with a sponsoring member.
  15. How much is a Locker? What does it include?
    Half lockers rent for $15 per month and the full locker rents for $25 per month. If the lockers are rented on an annual basis, a 50% discount is given. Shoe shines for street and golf shoes included as well as spike replacement, shoelace replacement and towel service.
  16. How much is a golf cart? Do you allow private carts? What is the Lease Program?
    Golf carts are $12 per rider for 18 holes. A nine-hole single rider pays $6. The Club offers a punch card of 20 single rides at a 25% discount. The Club owns a fleet of 72 carts and does not allow private carts. Electric golf carts can be leased on a yearly basis for a family or an individual. The family fee is $85 per month and $65 per month for an individual for the annual contract.
  17. Do you have a practice range?
    Yes! The practice range balls are included in the membership for members and their daily golf guests. The range offers 5 target greens with bunkers and a practice pitching green with a practice bunker. The range is limited to irons only based on a restriction on the Club use permit through San Joaquin County. Woods are allowed ONLY in the newly installed designated Woods Area at the east end of the driving range, pratice putting, and chipping area.
  18. What is Club Care and Storage? How much is it?
    Clubs may be stored in the small building across from the Golf Shoppe for $10 per month. This building is security alarmed and monitored. Club storage includes cleaning your bag and clubs on a usage basis with the metal/woods wiped down. Discounted at 25% for an annual lease.
  19. Can I store my pull cart here? Can I use my electric remote pull cart?
    Yes, for a monthly fee of $10. A discount of 25% (of the storage fee) is available on an annual basis. Twenty-five club pull carts are available at no rental fee. There is an annual trail fee of $125 for all electric motorized pull/push carts. These must be registered in the Golf Shoppe prior to usage.
  20. What is Hole-in-One Insurance? How do I get it?
    Elkhorn offers Hole-in-One Insurance on an optional basis for $10. If an insured golfer makes a "1" on a regulation course, they receive $500 Club Credit. Bar tab is paid for everyone in-house, and up to $200 is reimbursed should you be at another facility. Applications are in the Golf Shoppe.
  21. What is the Course Ranger's job? When is the Ranger on the course?
    Course Rangers are scheduled as needed providing many services to golfers while on duty. Their primary duty is to monitor the speed of play. Our 18-hole pace of play is 4 hours and 15 minutes.
  22. Does Elkhorn have reciprocal playing privileges at other private clubs?
    Yes, but each private club has it's own policies for guests. Our golf professionals or general manager will be more than happy to try to make those arrangements for you. Green fees are usually charged back to your Elkhorn account.
  23. Are Golf Memberships transferable?
    Regular, Non-Equity Golf and Non-Resident memberships may be transferred to an adult son, daughter, or grandchild of the current member. There is a transfer fee.
  24. What if I have surgery and can't play golf?
    Elkhorn offers a "Medical Leave of Absence" for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months with written authorization from the member's physician. During your medical leave of absence, monthly dues are reduced to that of social membership.

Food & Beverage

  1. Do you have a Food and Beverage minimum?
    Yes, each membership is assigned a certain monthly rotation and must spend $75 per quarter in the Food & Beverage area. Most social events designate how much of the entry will go toward the minimum.
  2. When is food served in the Grillroom?
    Tuesday - Friday 7:30 AM until 3:00 PM
    Saturday & Sunday 6:00 AM until 4:00 PM
    Closed on Monday unless Holiday 6:30 AM until 4:00 PM
  3. What are the Bar hours?
    Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM
    Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Holidays 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM
    During Daylight Savings Time 7:00 PM daily
  4. Is the Clubhouse open for dinner?
    Dinners are listed on your monthly calendar of events. Currently there are usually two Friday night dinners per month and one Wednesday night. These dinners are held in the Formal Dining Room which seats approximately 52.
  5. Do you ever have Sunday brunches?
    Easter with the Easter Bunny, Mother's Day and Santa visits in December! These special events are held in the banquet room.
  6. How many will your facilities accommodate? How do I rent the banquet facilities for a private event?
    The Fairway and Garden Rooms each accommodate 175 people. Combined accommodations, 350 with a maximum up to 400. The Formal Dining Room seats approximately 52 and the Conference Room seats 18. The members Grillroom seats 88 and is not available for rent. Social

  1. Is there a monthly calendar of events? How do I receive it?
    Yes, in the newsletter you will receive the current and following month's calendar of events.
  2. How do I sign up for Social Events? Is there a cancellation date?
    Reservations should be made through Bernadine Chapman, Secretary at (209) 477-8896. Cancellation dates are usually listed on the advertisement for each event.
  3. Can I bring a Guest to the social functions?
    Almost all social functions may include guests when accompanied by a member.
  4. Is there a dress code for social functions?
    Men are encouraged to wear sport coats to most functions. In many instances, golf attire is acceptable. Unless specified, jeans are not acceptable attire at evening or non-golf functions by members or guests. The Rules & Regulations are more specific about the clubhouse dress code.
  5. Are there other non-golf events?
    Yes, the Club offers bridge lessons on Thursdays and "Book Club" meets every 3rd Wednesday for dinner.
  6. How can I get involved in one of the Committees?
    All Committees are governed by the Special Interest Clubs. Being involved in one of these groups and stating your desire to serve on a committee will get you started.

Office

  1. Can I charge Club purchases?
    You may charge in the Golf Shoppe, Bar or Restaurant by signing your name and membership number to the related charge tag.
  2. How do I use Club Credit?
    Members may spend Club Credit (Tournament earnings) by signing a charge tag with their name, membership number and writing "Club Credit" on the charge tag. Club Credit applies to Elkhorn purchases in the Golf Shoppe or Food & Beverage Department. "Club Credit" will not be allowed to be used for the Minimum Food & Beverage charge or tournament entry fees.
  3. When do I receive my statement?
    Statements are mailed within the first week of each month. These reflect all charges from the previous month and include the current month's membership dues in advance.
  4. When is my bill due?
    Statements are due upon receipt. Amounts not paid by the last day of the month are delinquent and assessed a 2% per month service charge. You may arrange through the office to have your statement automatically paid with your credit card.
  5. Do you take credit cards?
    Visa and Master Card are accepted at Elkhorn for all purchases.
  6. Who do I contact with questions about my statement?
    Any questions regarding your bill should be directed to Dee Wells, Elkhorn's Office Manager at (209) 477-8896.
  7. What if I know someone interested in joining the Club?
    Call the Office at 477-8896 and ask for the General Manager or Membership Director to receive a prospective member packet. Arrangements can be made for a complimentary tee time for you and your guest. Incentives are offered to our members who sponsor their friends into the club.
